NCERT-style example practice for each subject

These are original practice questions inspired by Class 12th NCERT learning patterns, with short answers for self-checking.

Physics

Practice core ideas from electrostatics, current electricity, and ray optics.

Question 1

A point charge of 2 x 10^-6 C is placed 3 m away from another point charge of 4 x 10^-6 C in air. Find the electrostatic force between them.

Answer:

Use Coulomb's law: F = kq1q2 / r^2. Here k = 9 x 10^9, q1 = 2 x 10^-6 C, q2 = 4 x 10^-6 C, r = 3 m. So F = (9 x 10^9 x 8 x 10^-12) / 9 = 8 x 10^-3 N.

Question 2

A resistor of 10 ohm is connected to a 5 V battery. Calculate the current in the circuit.

Answer:

Using Ohm's law, I = V / R = 5 / 10 = 0.5 A.

Chemistry

Practice typical examples from solutions, electrochemistry, and organic naming basics.

Question 1

What is the molarity of a solution prepared by dissolving 5 g of NaOH in water to make 250 mL of solution?

Answer:

Molar mass of NaOH = 40 g/mol. Moles = 5 / 40 = 0.125 mol. Volume = 250 mL = 0.25 L. Molarity = 0.125 / 0.25 = 0.5 M.

Question 2

State whether oxidation or reduction occurs when Cu2+ changes to Cu.

Answer:

Cu2+ gains electrons to become Cu. Gain of electrons is reduction.

Question 1

Why is meiosis important in sexual reproduction?

Answer:

Meiosis reduces the chromosome number to half in gametes, so that after fertilization the normal chromosome number is restored in the offspring.

Question 2

Name the structure in flowering plants where pollen grains are produced, and state its role.

Answer:

Pollen grains are produced in the anther. Its role is to form and release the male gametophytes needed for fertilization.
